note to self: i’ll be there for you, always

written june 6, 2021. Photo by Kristine Cinate on Unsplash I have always looked for myself in other people. I think the idea was that they would somehow hold the pieces of me that I felt were missing. That maybe, if I wrapped my identity up in theirs enough, we would somehow make a whole person. It's not healthy to live like this, but I did it anyway — burning through relationships and searching for something I couldn't quite name. It was never enough, not to be myself, but it was never enough to latch my identity to other people, either. I got close, several times — I thought I had reached the pinnacle of self discovery. I thought I had completed myself. But in the end, relying on other people to help build yourself is never a viable way to do things. It's only recently that I've started to become comfortable with the idea of being enough, as I am, on my own. Several years ago, in this same position, I would have searched for another person to attach my identity onto,

Introducing Further Up and Further In Design

When October 2016 rolls around, I'll have been blogging for ten years. It's honestly shocking when I think about it. I've had many different platforms and blog titles, but in the end, I always came back to my home blog: Further Up and Further In.

One of the things blogging opened the door for me to do was design. Rather than make me my own blog design, my dad told me to learn how to do it myself. Though I was peeved at the time, it's something I can't thank him enough for because it led me to discover that I am truly passionate about graphic design.

So, with that, I'm pleased to announce that I've officially opened my design business to commissions. I've had the business in motion for almost a year, but it's never quite been official... well, now it's official! I'm open for business, and that feels really good to say.

If you're looking for affordable graphics--logos, blog designs, or book covers--I'm here to help! Head on over to my design site to check out what I offer and for how much. Affordability is my goal, and so is making a design that you will absolutely love.

As a special thank you to my blog readers (if you're reading this post, that's you), I'm offering a discount for you guys. When you fill out the contact form, enter the coupon code "FUFI" for 20% off your offer. This coupon code is valid until the end of June!

In summary, thank you so much for reading
and for being a part of my life for the past ten years.
Here's to many more! ♥
