note to self: i’ll be there for you, always

written june 6, 2021. Photo by Kristine Cinate on Unsplash I have always looked for myself in other people. I think the idea was that they would somehow hold the pieces of me that I felt were missing. That maybe, if I wrapped my identity up in theirs enough, we would somehow make a whole person. It's not healthy to live like this, but I did it anyway — burning through relationships and searching for something I couldn't quite name. It was never enough, not to be myself, but it was never enough to latch my identity to other people, either. I got close, several times — I thought I had reached the pinnacle of self discovery. I thought I had completed myself. But in the end, relying on other people to help build yourself is never a viable way to do things. It's only recently that I've started to become comfortable with the idea of being enough, as I am, on my own. Several years ago, in this same position, I would have searched for another person to attach my identity onto,

Sneaking In Under The Wire {Thoughts of Spring Blog Party}

I am sneaking in under the wire and participating in the Thoughts of Spring Blog Party! And I'm posting these questions right before I go to bed. ;)

My name is Kylie - although many of you know me by Sky. I am almost 15, and I love to write, as evidenced by this blog. ;)

How would people describe your personality? (If they could only use ONE word.) Are they right?
Probably creative. Yes, they're right. I create blog templates, and I write full-blown novels. Worlds spring from my fingertips. Yeah, I'd say I'm creative. Another word I really like to describe me is whimsical.

What celebrity/celebrities would create a “Star-Struck” feeling if you saw them in real life?
Hehehe. Lots.
Adam Agee. Brian Calcara. Jordan Messer. Nick Baumhardt.
Matthew Thiessen (or any guy from RK.)
Adam Young!

What is your comfort food/drink?
Ice cream, or dark chocolate. Or chips. I'm a sucker for all three.

Be brave – tell us something very random and weird about yourself.
I am wearing mismatched socks right now and I don't care. I wear mismatched socks more often than I wear matching ones.

Do you have a strong desire to do something you’ve never done? What is it?
Um, go to the beach? ;)

Movies: Action, Drama, Romantic Comedy, Documentary, Comedy? What are your favorite genres?
Action, Romance, & Comedy. Or if they're all together, that's amazing. I also really like The Dick Van Dyke Show and Dr. Quinn, but that probably doesn't count. ;)

Books: Fiction, Non-Fiction, Romance, Biographies, True Stories, Self-Help, Devotional/Study? What are your favorite types of reading material?
Fiction all the way. Sometimes non-fiction, for school. And yeah, I like romance novels.

Music: Funk, Rock, Country, Jazz, Classical, Film Score, Blues, Classic Rock, Crooner, Alternative, Heavy Metal, Techno? What are your favorite types?
Christian rock. Pretty much any Christian music. Relient K; tobyMac; Tenth Avenue North. Or crossover, like Lifehouse, Switchfoot, and Owl City.

If you inherited a million dollars, what is the first thing you would do with your money?
Pay of my parents' mortgage, and then probably go on a trip somewhere. Like Seattle. Or to the beach. That works too!

Name one weakness of yours (confession is good for the soul).
I have a temper. Yep. I do. Just ask my mom. :-/

If you could live anywhere at all (and take all your loved ones with you), where would you go?
The beach!! (Are you sensing a trend here? ;))

What is your greatest fear or strange phobia?
Forget spiders, or snakes - I fear losing someone I love. And I also fear not being good enough.

What is your greatest accomplishment?
Realizing that to live, I must die in Christ, and that in Christ alone, my hope is found.

Are you a hopeless romantic?
Yes. Oh yes. A thousand times, yes.

What movie or book character can you most relate to?
Lucy from The Chronicles of Narnia. I don't relate to her as much as I aspire to be like her. Her childlike faith in Aslan is amazing, and something I want to have with my Savior.

I wish I could go to the beach as well. I've never seen the ocean, and I desperately wanna look at it!:D I wore mismatched socks to work the other day. My mom got a huge chuckle out of it. I just thought it was normal.
