note to self: i’ll be there for you, always

written june 6, 2021. Photo by Kristine Cinate on Unsplash I have always looked for myself in other people. I think the idea was that they would somehow hold the pieces of me that I felt were missing. That maybe, if I wrapped my identity up in theirs enough, we would somehow make a whole person. It's not healthy to live like this, but I did it anyway — burning through relationships and searching for something I couldn't quite name. It was never enough, not to be myself, but it was never enough to latch my identity to other people, either. I got close, several times — I thought I had reached the pinnacle of self discovery. I thought I had completed myself. But in the end, relying on other people to help build yourself is never a viable way to do things. It's only recently that I've started to become comfortable with the idea of being enough, as I am, on my own. Several years ago, in this same position, I would have searched for another person to attach my identity onto,

Introducin' Me {Day 24: A Movie No One Would Expect Me to Love}

This video says it all.

I liked Camp Rock 2.

The memories I have watching that movie are amazing. We watched it with our good friends' house, who turned it on right before we left. I remember begging my mom to let us stay and watch. Why? Because I'm a sucker for cotton candy-type movies, once in a while. I'm glad we stayed. I remember dancing around like crazy people at basically every song. Yes, with the Jonas Brothers.

It was the most fun dance party ever, and the Introducing Me song is one of my favorites. I mean, the idea of a guy singing a girl a song is so sweet. ;)

Yeah, was that shocking or not so much?

  2. My little sister, my cousin and I watched it on New Year's but didn't catch the whole movie. We were really really hyper though, so that made it even more fun! I liked the first one, and what I've seen of the second one.

    Oh, and in case I missed commenting on the post with your song—amazing! You're really talented!

  4. Uh oh. Now I need to see this movie. :) That song is adorable, and thanks to the 25th anniversary of the Les Miserables musical, I love Nick Jonas. :)

    I definitely love a good "cotton candy" movie, too... recently, I have been indulging in High School Musical. <3

  6. I love that song!! I remember watching Camp Rock 2 when I had cold sores in my eyes and I couldn't even see anything in the competition part! :)

    Actually, that's not too unexpected. I don't know what I wouldn't have expected from you... probably a really intense drama or something :)

  7. Haha! You were the only person who actually got the Monsters Inc./Dr. Quinn comic:) Had you ever noticed that they had the same names before?

  8. Ah! I don't know how I missed seeing this post!
    Anyways, I'm not much of a Camp Rock person, but that song was simply the most adorable thing EVER! I loved it so much :D
    And thank YOU for all your sweet comments, girl! They definitely make my day happier ;)
