note to self: i’ll be there for you, always
written june 6, 2021. Photo by Kristine Cinate on Unsplash I have always looked for myself in other people. I think the idea was that they would somehow hold the pieces of me that I felt were missing. That maybe, if I wrapped my identity up in theirs enough, we would somehow make a whole person. It's not healthy to live like this, but I did it anyway — burning through relationships and searching for something I couldn't quite name. It was never enough, not to be myself, but it was never enough to latch my identity to other people, either. I got close, several times — I thought I had reached the pinnacle of self discovery. I thought I had completed myself. But in the end, relying on other people to help build yourself is never a viable way to do things. It's only recently that I've started to become comfortable with the idea of being enough, as I am, on my own. Several years ago, in this same position, I would have searched for another person to attach my identity onto,
Thanks for your comment earlier... still lovin' your template! Yes, I did create my background & blog template on my own... I've had it for several months though, but I currently have a new design in the works! It will probably go live on the blog in the week or so... YAY!
ReplyDeleteI agree. A good writing tip is to JUST WRITE. I believe it! I know from experience that if you don't write at all, because you think you don't have any good ideas... well then, you're really just hurting yourself if you don't write at all. Great post!
Heyy,
ReplyDeleteYeah, I know what you mean about just sitting down and beginning to write. The hardest part of writing for me is simply to make myself write. :)
Most of my posts actually come from my prayer journal. I don`t really journal the way most people do, but write it to God, so it`s all a prayer. That way I see my life as a giant prayer, and if I`m doing something bad, would I really want to have to write that to God?
So I take whatever I thought was interesting that I wrote and make it more readable and less poetic for my blog. :)
That's what I do!
Becca
I think that must be the best bit of writing advice ever! I tried to think if I knew of any good writing tips, but your's just about covers it!
ReplyDeleteYes, I have found that has got to be the best writing tip ever. Have you ever thought about doing NaNoWriMo? That has made me start writing! :D
