note to self: go outside

"I went to the woods because I wished to live deliberately, to front only the essential facts of life, and see if I could not learn what it had to teach, and not, when I came to die, discover that I had not lived." —  Henry David Thoreau credit My phone died recently. Not like died because of its charge — permanently died. I'm not the only one whom this has happened to, I'm sure, and this isn't a complaint. Rather, it's an observation on how different the landscape of my life has been without it. I've been reading more, watching more TV, doing less doomscrolling. I found that I've missed my phone a lot less and simultaneously a lot more than I expected. And I've been noticing a difference in my mental state. My mental health is, apparently, linked in part to the device I hold in my hand 99% of the time. Who knew? However, it's still been challenging lately, for more reasons than just my phone, and my sister invited me to go outside with her. Th

Writing Tips?

I've been thinking about writing lately, which, for me, is kind of like thinking about breathing. :) One of the best things I've done is make myself JUST WRITE. It doesn't matter if my spelling and grammar stink or even if the writing makes sense. I can fix that later. It's all about getting the ideas out of my head and onto my paper.

I decided last night that while thinking about what you're going to write is good, if I don't stop thinking and actually WRITE it, it won't get written at all. Deciding to open a document and let my fingers on the keyboard and imagination go wild is one of the best things that I have done in my writing journey.

What about you? What are some things you've found helpful in your writing? What is one important piece of advice that you would want to pass on to other writers?

You know mine: JUST WRITE! :)

  1. Thanks for your comment earlier... still lovin' your template! Yes, I did create my background & blog template on my own... I've had it for several months though, but I currently have a new design in the works! It will probably go live on the blog in the week or so... YAY!

I agree. A good writing tip is to JUST WRITE. I believe it! I know from experience that if you don't write at all, because you think you don't have any good ideas... well then, you're really just hurting yourself if you don't write at all. Great post!

  2. Heyy,

Yeah, I know what you mean about just sitting down and beginning to write. The hardest part of writing for me is simply to make myself write. :)

Most of my posts actually come from my prayer journal. I don`t really journal the way most people do, but write it to God, so it`s all a prayer. That way I see my life as a giant prayer, and if I`m doing something bad, would I really want to have to write that to God?

So I take whatever I thought was interesting that I wrote and make it more readable and less poetic for my blog. :)

    That's what I do!

  3. I think that must be the best bit of writing advice ever! I tried to think if I knew of any good writing tips, but your's just about covers it!

  4. Yes, I have found that has got to be the best writing tip ever. Have you ever thought about doing NaNoWriMo? That has made me start writing! :D
