Another month, another stack of books for my "read" shelf. Here's what I read during September!
Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets by J.K. Rowling
In September I continued to read
Harry Potter, and
Chamber of Secrets made me fall even more in love with Rowling's universe. I loved the plot twist, I cried when Fawkes cried, and I had chills. It was awesome.

Extraordinary Means by Robyn Schneider
The characters in this book won me over, and I fell in love with them. This book had all the feels and a lot of good things to say about life.

Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban by J.K. Rowling
HOLD UP, EVERYBODY. This is my favorite
HP book to date. I love Sirius Black more than I can say.

To All the Boys I've Loved Before by Jenny Han
This book was such an anticipated read for me, but I unfortunately had issues connecting to the main character, Lara Jean. But Peter Kavinsky? Holy moly, I love him. More Peter, please.

It Started with Goodbye by Christina June
I got this book as a Netgalley ARC, and it was such a good one! Adorable, quirky, and sweet. I absolutely loved that Tatum was a graphic designer, too--I can definitely relate to that
(ignore my shameless self promo). And the cover is gorgeous! (My full review will most likely be going up on

I cried about this book on The Fangirl Initiative. It was

The Way We Fall by Megan Crewe
The premise of this book is really intriguing, and I love the yellow on the cover. I think the way this book was written as a diary made it lack suspense, so it wasn't as riveting as I had hoped. But still, I really loved the idea of an epidemic like this.

Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire by J.K. Rowling
This book was super long, but ultimately worth every page. I got a little bogged down with the Quidditch tournament, but in the end, it did matter to the plot, so I'm okay with that. Now I just have to get up the nerve to read the 900-some page
Order of the Phoenix.

Confess by Colleen Hoover
Last month I loved
November 9, so I was hoping the next Colleen Hoover book I read would be just as good. It was! I loved the art sprinkled throughout the pages, and Auburn and Owen were two amazing characters. Plus, the way this ended was just perfect. I love Colleen Hoover's writing and I'll be darned if I don't read a book of hers at
least every month. (AND WOULD YOU LOOK AT THE COVER?)
Torn Away by Jennifer Brown
This book is expertly written about grief and loss. I connected deeply to Jersey, and I was sad when her story was over. I'd definitely recommend it, especially to teens who are experiencing grief (though it can be pretty heavy subject matter, so keep yourself safe no matter what).
Hate List by Jennifer Brown
Hate List is written about a really rough subject, but it was well-handled, and I loved Valerie's journey. It flowed well and the ending was perfect. The writing was so nuanced and balanced as well. I'm definitely a new Jennifer Brown fan.

This Savage Song by Victoria Schwab
I'm also a new fan of Victoria/V.E. Schwab.
This Savage Song was beautiful, heartrending, and really fascinating. I loved the worldbuilding and the complex mythos surrounding Verity and its monsters. I'll definitely be awaiting the second book (and loving August with all of my heart).

Hawkeye vol. 2: Little Hits by Matt Fraction
My one and only comic this month, which is kind of sad. I just kind of want to know how this comic made me care so goshdang much in such a little timeframe. How can comics make me this emotional? How dare they?

Those HP books are two of my favorites! And Confess is one of the ones on my "maybe" list. My favorite book was probably The Screaming Staircase by Jonathan Stroud. :)

I totally agree with Prisoner of Azkaban- it's both my favorite book, and movie, out of the Harry Potter series. ^-^
ReplyDeleteI LOVE V.E. SCHWAB. Oh my goodness, she's one of my top favorites. Her Shades of Magic books are probably my favorite. Although I did devour This Savage Song in less than a day. xD

I accidentally spent ten minutes looking up each of these books on Goodreads plus adding some of them to my to-read list. Hate List sounds incredibly deep and painfully sad in the best way. I think I need it in my life.

Prisoner of Azkaban is my favourite movie, but Order of the Phoenix is my favourite book. I'm so glad Sirius is your favourite character though - no one GETS it when I tell them he's my favourite.

Ahhhhh THIS SAVAGE SONG.😍😍 I seriously love that books so so much I can only flail! I read it a few months back but it seriously sits on my "best of the year" shelf! And I've read the Hate List and </3 it totally broke me but it was gorgeously written. And I also read To All the Boys this month! WOOO. Although I was so in love with all the food that nothing else mattered basically. PETER THO. All these darn adorable boys. :')
