note to self: i’ll be there for you, always

written june 6, 2021. Photo by Kristine Cinate on Unsplash I have always looked for myself in other people. I think the idea was that they would somehow hold the pieces of me that I felt were missing. That maybe, if I wrapped my identity up in theirs enough, we would somehow make a whole person. It's not healthy to live like this, but I did it anyway — burning through relationships and searching for something I couldn't quite name. It was never enough, not to be myself, but it was never enough to latch my identity to other people, either. I got close, several times — I thought I had reached the pinnacle of self discovery. I thought I had completed myself. But in the end, relying on other people to help build yourself is never a viable way to do things. It's only recently that I've started to become comfortable with the idea of being enough, as I am, on my own. Several years ago, in this same position, I would have searched for another person to attach my identity onto,

The 20 Day Prayer Challenge: America

Calling all Prayer Warriors!!

I've decided to do another 20 Day Prayer Challenge, like the one I did back in May. This one is very similar to the first one, but I want to do another one focusing on America.

I am a firm believer in prayer, and the impact it can make, and I especially believe in kids praying. I wrote an article about the importance of prayer a while back.

I've been wanting to do a Prayer Challenge for America for a while now. Our nation is a lot better than some other countries, but it still could use a lot of help, especially with the elections coming up. Although I do believe that no matter who is in the office, God will still be on the throne, but we still need to be praying.

Prayer is one weapon that Satan can't fight, and it has a lot of power. I hope that by doing these challenges, more and more people would realize just how much of an impact it can make.

In Philipians 4:6 it says:
"Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God." Here are some things you can pray for during the 20 Day period:

- That the Americans' hearts would be softened toward God
- That God's will would be done in the upcoming elections
- That God would protect us in whatever lies ahead
- That His hand would be upon our nation
- Anything else God lays upon your heart

The challenge will start in four days, on Thursday, September 11th, and continue for 20 days until the end of this month. You are welcome to share about it on your blogs, and also put the icons on your blog. I've made some new ones for the America theme. The codes are below -- just take out the spaces.
