I think the idea was that they would somehow hold the pieces of me that I felt were missing. That maybe, if I wrapped my identity up in theirs enough, we would somehow make a whole person. It's not healthy to live like this, but I did it anyway — burning through relationships and searching for something I couldn't quite name. It was never enough, not to be myself, but it was never enough to latch my identity to other people, either. I got close, several times — I thought I had reached the pinnacle of self discovery. I thought I had completed myself. But in the end, relying on other people to help build yourself is never a viable way to do things. It's only recently that I've started to become comfortable with the idea of being enough, as I am, on my own. Beautiful People: Favourites Edition (And Farewell for Now)

Greetings, writerlings! It's been quite a while since we've done a Beautiful People link-up! We're so excited to be back to provide you with another round of character development! We also have an announcement, so please read all the way through for that. But first, you may be wondering...

What is Beautiful People?
Beautiful People is a blog meme hosted by myself and the ever-awesome Cait @ Paper Fury. Every month, we post ten questions to help you get to know your characters better. They can be elusive and enigmatic, but we hope every question we post brings you closer to the answers about your wonderful beautiful people (your characters). 

How do I join?
Just jump in! Snag the questions, post them on your blog, and come back to add your link! I also recommend checking out the posts of the other participants. It's a great way to make new friends.

This brings me to the saddest part of the post, which is that Cait and I have both realized it's time to put Beautiful People on an indefinite hiatus. I'm sure you've noticed that there's been a lack of BP posts, and that's been due to lack of time and ability on both of our parts. We came to the mutual conclusion that it would be best to end Beautiful People, for now, with the intention of reconvening in a year and seeing where we are then. However, please don't despair! We've built up a huge database of questions throughout the years that BP has existed (for SEVEN YEARS NOW, my goodness!), and the Beautiful People archive will always exist. You can always reference back to our list of questions (which I will try to work on updating) or scroll through the category on my blog if you ever find yourself pining after BP.

But from the bottom of my heart, thank you for all the love you've given Beautiful People, folks. I started Beautiful People all the way back in 2011 on a complete whim, and it's been so amazing to see it grow and flourish, and that is all thanks to you. I have loved seeing the community of writers that it's created, and I'm grateful for every single one of you that's participated. Thank you.

  2. Awwww! I am so very sad to see this go. I've been doing BP for YEARS. It's so special. But I absolutely understand you and Cait don't have the time anymore. I'm really glad you're doing a last hurrah though. Can't wait to join in this one!

  3. I did it for the first time today! It's so sad that i only just came to know about it but hte questions were so much fun to answer.
    It's understandable of course, things would definitely be busy for the both of you - and the fact that you've run this for SEVEN years. Dear, lord that's a lot.
